G4 and L69 Call for Urgent Reform of UN Security Council
With the UN nearing its 80th anniversary, the G4 nations—India, Brazil, Germany, and Japan—are calling for urgent reform of the UN Security Council (UNSC). During the G4 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, they stressed the need for enhanced participation of developing nations in both permanent and non-permanent UNSC seats. The L69 and C-10 groups echoed these demands, pushing for greater representation of the Global South, especially Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America, citing delays impacting the UN’s credibility and legitimacy.
