SC Urges EC to Allow Aadhaar, EPIC for Bihar Electoral Roll Revision

The Supreme Court on Monday told the Election Commission (EC) to focus on “mass inclusion, not en masse exclusion” during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral roll. It urged the EC to accept Aadhaar and EPIC cards as valid identity documents, dismissing concerns of forgery by noting “any document can be falsified.” The EC argued these could be forged, but the court said they carry a presumption of correctness. The draft roll publishes on August 1, with final rolls due by September 30.
